“Books are (typically) not stolen, meaning they’re over-borrowed (or lost). But we cannot allow the belief that these bound pages evacuated our homes on their own. That’s for our fathers to estimate. Instead, we’re dealing with replacing a book that has been borrowed by an irresponsible member of our society. Someone who does not return things that do not belong to him or her, and, in turn, does not deserve to feast on the buttery toast of literacy.”
