Conversations with my Father
“So . . . how’s mom doing?”
“Not too bad.”
“How’s her arm?”
“Well, she’s in a lot of pain right now. She went to see an Acupuncturist and that helped a bit, although it was painful. She’s decided to stick with it for a while longer.”
My father, ladies and gentlemen.
Would that I had replied: “Well, you don’t have to be such a prick about it.”
Yeah, that’s the height of wit in my family — or, at least, the width of it.
