Breaking News | Power to the People?

Earlier today, I saw that my cell phone couldn’t pick up a signal. Which is odd, as I work downtown within sight of about thirty towers and have never had trouble before.

About a half-hour ago, all our surge protectors and reserve power supply thingy’s squealed. Usually a bad sign.

Five minutes later, CNN sent out this breaking news update: Major power outages reported in New York City, other parts of Northeast, Cleveland, Detroit and other cities.

I signed up to receive the CNN news updates via e-mail on September 12th a few years back. Never really paid much attention to them before (“Hm, Kobe’s got a court date…”)

But I can’t help wondering . . . major power outages this afternoon in cities around the country.

Troubling.
