Please note that this blog spans a broad period of time. The intervening years have brought many things into my life, including divorce and remarriage. As such, some older posts reference a relationship which is no longer active. In context, however, the portrayal is accurate.

For many reasons, I have chosen to let entries such as this one remain in the overall continuity of the site.

Pop. Six. Squish. Uh uh. Cicero. Lipschitz!

For her birthday, Julia’s mom got her a DVD of the movie ‘Chicago’ and a CD player of her very own. I had the bright idea of handing along my copy of the original Broadway cast recording of the show . . . which Julia now listens to (and sings along with) every night, including the lyric:

So I said to him, I said, “Bernie, you pop that gum one more time…”
and he did.
So I took the shotgun off the wall
and I fired two warning shots…
…into his head.

That’s what I heard her singing tonight anyway, when I came upstairs.

Meanwhile, Sam was in his room playing Sim City on the computer, cackling like some evil god as he sent tornado after tornado ripping through the little town he’d built.
