Left Behind
While I was standing here browsing Amazon for Brewer’s Dictionary of Miracles, I was surprised to hear NPR’s Robert Siegel absolutely grilling John Kerry on the Bush Administration’s approach to Iraq.
A number of months ago my father lamented to me that NPR’s liberal bias had indoctrinated me in the ways of the Left — a sentiment which is certainly more right than not.
However, I was surprised at the challenges Siegel put to Kerry. The general tone of the interview was fairly argumentative, if not antagonistic. But don’t take my word for it, you can listen to it on their website (but there’s not a direct link to the interview yet).
The other interesting thing was that John Kerry came across as somewhat of an asshole in the interview — at least, that’s how I heard him.
Maybe that’s unfair. Maybe he was simply as surprised as I was by NPR asking him some hard questions and so he came across a bit defensive . . . not to put too positive a spin on it.
However, no matter how snotty or defensive Kerry sounds, I don’t think he even comes close to the smug arrogance of George Bush (to say nothing of Dick Cheney). I’m still dumbfounded that anyone in this country trusts either of them.
But politics is boring. Enough of that. Now NPR is running their memorial of recently-deceased nudie film king Russ Meyer…
Critic: “You’re nothing but a fetishist and a breast man!”
Meyer: “Oh, that’s only the half of it.”
Maybe I’ll vote for Meyer as a write-in vote.
