These postcards are about a thousand times more interesting and honest than the news here. They just broke my heart.

It’s really quite something, what people can do. There’s been so much unhappiness lately for so many people I know — like there was some kind of misfortune building up and waiting to rain down on everyone I know. I know people who ar losing their jobs, people who are bouncing checks, people who are puttng parents into nursing homes, people who are on the cusp of divorce, people who are looking for open windows, people who are diagnosed, people who have thrown their kids out, people who can’t write a word that’s honest, people who’re in rehab again . . . and it’s all within the past two or three weeks, some pent up head of misfortune that’s just waiting to pop.

Hang in there. As Stan said to me, “Joy comes in the morning.”

Which looks to be fairly soon, actually.

Time for bed…
