I also learned that if leave your dog at home, it will howl and whine all morning and afternoon much to the annoyance of your neighbor downstairs who is just trying to drink a nice cup of tea and read a book by Hope Mirlees. (This, of course, was learned from my new neighbors upstairs — or, rather, I learned it from their dog.)
