Woke up yesterday, right eye swollen and painful. I spent most of the day writing, making pots of tea, and bathing my eye with warm water and Eyebright.

End of the day, the eye was worse . . . but I’d managed to write through to the end of Book Two, putting the total word count for the second draft at just under 83,000 words. I haven’t done this before, but the end of Book Two is just about at the halfway point in the story. It looks like my initial estimate of 200,000 words might be a little high.

Last night was dinner with friends and watching a few episodes of Justice League afterwards (which is my new favorite thing right now). As the evening wound down, I found that my brain was a bit hyper from the two pots of tea I’d had while writing. So I stayed up and watched the first episode of Dead Like Me and then I went to bed, surprised at how much I’d enjoyed it.

Today, the eye is much, much worse . . . but I’m about twenty minutes and one hot cup of Eyebright away from starting the second draft of Book Three. So that’s okay.

I date my writing sessions and looking through the first draft of Book Three last night, I was surprised to see that I was writing it at almost this exact same time last year.

Need to work faster. Yesterday was a big help but there’s a long way to go before this round is done . . . and then here’s the third draft after that.

(Just in case none of this is of interest to you, feel free to read this instead.)
