I made some good progress today, banging through the first three chapters in about an hour and a half. If I can keep this pace up, I might be able to get the second drat out of the way in fairly quick time. Maybe by the end of the month. It all comes down to time.
Apart from making some minor tweaks here and there, my main objective is to take what’s been written out in longhand on paper and get it in the computer.
So, to misquote Capote: I’m not writing, I’m typing.
But I know there are some parts coming soon enough which will require more work than just typing on autopilot. There are a number of points where, I think, I left behind a mess to be cleaned up.
So, I’ve got three chapters in . . . but these early chapters are short ones and I’ve barely made a dent in the first notebook.
Overall, though, I can say with 4+ years distance that there’s some fairly good writing there. Somewhat.
And, overall, it doesn’t not feel like a book — so that’s okay.
Tired now . . . sleep . . . more tomorrow.
