Thank God, Mexico is on the Job

Listening to NPR tonight, I hear that the Mexican Navy is sending a couple of ships to help out with the Katrina aftermath.

Okay, is it just me or is it complete validation of how royally we have screwed the relief effort up that Mexico has to jump in to help?

And, hate to say it, Mexcio has a Navy?

A little while later, the NPR reporter quoted Vicente Fox saying (paraphrasing) that the Mexico military “isn’t used to operating outside its borders.”

Yeah. That’s always been a problem for Mexico.

(For the record, I don’t mean to show disdain towards Mexico or its citizens. I mean to show disdain towards how royally our own government has botched this up.)

(Okay, I’m making fun of Mexico too. I admit it. Yo soy es el de atras.)
