Poetic Divination

(In honor of my son Sam’s birthday, I’m posting one of his current favorite songs.)

From “Feel Good Inc.” by The Gorillaz

City’s breaking down on a camel’s back.
They just have to go ’cause they don’t know whack.
So all ya fill the streets, it’s appealing to see.
You won’t get out the county, ’cause you’re bad and free.

You’ve got a new horizon it’s ephemeral style.
A melancholy town where we never smile.
And all I wanna hear is the message beep.
My dreams, they gotta kiss me ’cause I don’t get sleep.
No.

Windmill, Windmill for the land.
Love forever hand in hand.
Take it all, it on your stride.
It is sinking, falling down.

Love forever love is free.
Let’s turn forever you and me.
Windmill, windmill for the land,
Is everybody in?

(No, I don’t know what it means. But I like to sing it and it’s got more poetry to it than most people would give it credit for, I think.)

(And happy birthday to Sam, too…)
