Disappointed (but not really)
I just put two-and-two together to realize that the Gaiman/Sandman convention Fiddler’s Green wasn’t in conflict with the opening of my adaptation of ‘The Odyssey’ in glamorous Iowa.
I met Neil Gaiman once, a very long time ago. I heard him speak, I walked him to his limo, I asked him to sign a slip of paper. He was very kind and tolerant. I shook his hand and said “Thank you for the stories.” That’s really all I needed to do.
Still, it would have been nice to go and hang out with The Sandman Power Dorks.
But! If you happen to be in Northwestern Iowa this weekend or the first weekend in December, why not take time out of your busy schedule and go and have a look at my adaptation of ‘The Odyssey’?
If you show up this coming Friday on campus, you could try to sneak into a few of the playwriting classes to hear me babble for a while about what I do and how I do it and (more importantly) why I do it.
Otherwise, come and see the show this weekend. Look me up at intermission. I’ll be the one in black and, possibly, the only one.
I hear the masks are very cool.
(Spent the evening printing out poetry and stories on the off chance that someone might actually ask me to read them while I’m there. More to do, then goodnight…)
